Using Javascript API’s, it seems we are now close to finding the Google video chat function on the Chrome browser (available as an add-on or simply part of the browser menu- let’s wait and see).

According to Henrik Andreasson (representing Google) they are busy creating a way to offer full functionality and performance, supporting RTC in Google Chrome.

http://www.webrtc.org/ is the website to resource the “Real-Time Communications” capabilities.

Ultimately Google wish to enable web developers to create Real-Time Communications (RTC) apps, such as Google Talk and Skype. This relinquishes the need for plug-ins, making the feature more browser friendly.

As well as video the Google Chat app will allow audio only if selected, allowing for Skype style telephone calls through your Internet browser.
