After having a bid of around $6 billion turned down for Groupon, the Google Offers beta project is now under-way. You can subscribe to offers for your City (Uptown deals as Google chooses to refer to a location).
The registration for Google offers is a simple process much like Groupon, however the site design is very different, with a clear and fresh design in crisp primary colours. The background is a map of the area where you are based.
Initial benefits appear to be the one which will send the Google+ project into the Facebook league pretty quickly- being signed in to everything at once. When you are signed into your Google account, you get mail, video chat, social networking, maps, search, documents, calendar and now Google Offers.
Don’t forget to +1 our page please!
Surprisingly, the New York (NYC) ‘Offer of the Day’, the very first one to be added, is for a dozen cupcakes for $10! I’m not sure that will be so successful when Google Offers UK is live in the coming weeks, but be sure to subscribe to see what deals become available. It will also be a compelling battle between the company they tried to buy, Groupon, and their own project Google Offers.
