Google Tsunami Alert After Japan Earthquake

Google UK was this afternoon showing an announcement on the homepage for the search facility (Google.co.uk). The message reads “Tsunami Alert for New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and others. Waves expected over the next few hours, caused by 8.9 earthquake in Japan”.

This alert indicates the ethical nature of the Google Inc company, and the fact they realise that as one of the most frequented websites in the World, their instant reach is incredible.

Situations such as remote houses where people have no access to television, or those working in a different time zone who may not have seen the updated news, means that a Tsunami can easily catch out countries in the vicinity of an earthquake- or even those hundreds of miles away.

Well done Google for recognising this chance to spread the word about a terrible natural disaster.
